After your stroke Isobel, what was it important to get back to doing?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"speechquote\">I wanted to feel like I could get back to looking after myself and get rid of those ready meals! They are OK for a little while, but not a long term solution.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-2\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. How easy was it to get started?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>It was very difficult at the beginning\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-3\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. What things made it difficult?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>For me it was a lack of confidence, fear of failure. My husband was also wrapping me up a bit in cotton wool.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-4\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. What did you do to get going and what was the 1st thing you did?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>Well, we sat down and had a chat about things and we thought about what I could make that could be easy. Like a snack or a lunch, something simple that wouldn\u2019t tire me out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-5\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. And what did you make?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>I made a bowl of soup with the microwave. Not very exciting!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-6\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. And that worked well?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>Yes, It worked out okay, it wasn\u2019t time-consuming and didn\u2019t take too much effort, which was good.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<div id=\"wp-spoiler-7\" class=\"wp-spoiler wpui-hashable wpui-narrow wpui-styles\" data-style=\"wpui-narrow\">  <h3 class=\"wp-spoiler-title wpui-hashable fade-true slide-true open-false\"><strong>Q. And how did you feel after that?<\/strong><\/h3><div class=\"wpui-hidden wp-spoiler-content\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"speechquote\"><p>I felt great, I was actually able to feed myself and my husband. He\u2019s a bit more relaxed now and let\u2019s me do more because he can now see what I can do.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/div>  <\/div><!-- end div.wp-spoiler -->\n<p><strong>Hints and tips:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Making an agreement with your family members to work jointly on household tasks can improve everybody&#8217;s confidence.<\/li>\n<li>Agree what you are going to do with your family.<\/li>\n<li>Do part of the task and gradually build up to doing more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"activity\">\n<h3>Something to try<\/h3>\n<p>Would any of these hints and tips help you?
